Birthright Israel Hosts Women’s Event with Ashley Waxman Bakshi in Atlanta
On March 24, 2025, more than 50 women gathered in the Atlanta home of Karen Shulman for Birthright Israel Foundation’s first-ever women’s event. Co-hosted by Karen and fellow Atlanta Leadership Council Co-Chair Michelle Leven, the afternoon brought together an inspiring group of donors, community leaders, and new supporters, all united in their commitment to strengthening Jewish identity through Birthright Israel.
The program featured Ashley Waxman Bakshi, a 2003 Birthright Israel alumna, activist, and content creator with over 850,000 followers. Since October 7th, Ashley has been on the frontlines fighting misinformation and pushing for the release of Israeli hostages—including her cousin, Agam Berger, who was taken by Hamas and has since returned home safely.
Guests also heard from Felicia Dlugolenski, a local mom of three who recently returned from volunteering in Israel through Birthright Israel Volunteer.
For Michelle, the event was personal: “Watching my son return from Birthright transformed—more connected to his Jewish identity and Israel—proved just how powerful these programs are,” she shared. “Birthright offers young Jews strength, pride, and belonging when they need it most.”
Karen echoed that passion: “Bringing together such thoughtful, committed women around a shared mission is inspiring. Birthright Israel changes lives—and it’s up to us to ensure that continues.”
This event reflected what Birthright Israel does best—building bridges between generations, empowering young Jews, and uniting communities around a vibrant Jewish future.
Birthright Israel programs are changing lives—but they don’t happen without you. It costs $5,000 to send just one participant on a Birthright Israel trip. Your support ensures the next generation can stand tall, proud, and connected to our people and our homeland.
